I am Cleveland Freamon of 52 Monroe Street Inwood, NY 11096
Historically, up until 1951, Afro-American or black soldiers of the US Army served separately from their white comrades.
In the town of Kitzingen, Germany, 23 Kilometers south of Wuerzburg, the US Army established a training center for the exclusive use of black soldiers. It was commonly referred to as KTC and I served there from 1948 to 1951.
I still fondly look upon those years at KTC as the best years of my life. The men and woman of KTC were outstanding both personally and professionally. Now, 50 years later, the Internet has made it possible to attempt a reunion of those of us who are still alive.
I am asking your help in doing that.My company, the 7871st Training and Education Group was the headquarters of KTC. KTC possessed a championship Baseball team of which I may be recalled as an outstanding player.
Listed below are other notable officers and men of KTC. Are any of them familiar to you?
POST COMMANDER COL. HENRY C. NEWTON (Deceased)
MY COMPANY 1ST SGT. M/SGT HORACE A MCRAE
HEAD COACH OF BASEBALL TEAM 1ST LT. EDWARD WILLIAMS
OUTSTANDING BASKETBALL PLAYER BILL MCNEELEY
THE MEN OF THE 7871ST HONOR GUARD DRILL TEAMKTC was the only black training center in the post war European command.
None like it wil ever exist again!!!
If I fail in this effort, I believe it will be forgotten and historically ignored by the US army that gave it birth.
I am comitted to keep that from happening. Please help me in any way you can.
